| SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois | 3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Genevieve E. "Genny" | 4 |
| Bennett of Montgomery on January 1, 2004; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Bennett was born on July 27, 1929, in | 6 |
| Detroit, Michigan, to the late Oscar and Barbara (Doty) Zigman; | 7 |
| and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Bennett was employed at Keene Trucking, | 9 |
| Mooseheart, Perfect Plus Hosiery, and as a cashier for Jewel | 10 |
| Food Stores for 17 years before going to work at Service Master | 11 |
| in 1979; she was employed at Service Master as a payroll clerk | 12 |
| for 17 years until her retirement in 1996; and
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Bennett was a member of the Batavia Women of | 14 |
| the Moose, Chapter #722 since 1975, earning degrees while being | 15 |
| an officer of the chapter; she was very proud that her | 16 |
| daughter, Barb, was the first second generation to receive her | 17 |
| degree, and her granddaughter, Tracy, was the third generation | 18 |
| of the family to receive her degree in the Women of the Moose | 19 |
| Batavia Chapter; and
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Bennett was a very active member of the | 21 |
| Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post #1197 of Batavia, where she | 22 |
| held various offices and chairmanships, both in her auxiliary | 23 |
| and at the district level; she was currently holding the office | 24 |
| of Junior Vice President of her auxiliary and District Cancer | 25 |
| Pin Chairman for the 19th District; this past year, at the | 26 |
| Batavia VFW, she was supervising the packaging and shipping of | 27 |
| boxes to the troops overseas; and

| WHEREAS, Mrs. Bennett was an avid camper and enjoyed going | 29 |
| to Pineview Campgrounds in Amboy with her family and her | 30 |
| granddaughter, Tracy; she was friendly, warm, compassionate, |

| and was always looking for ways to help people; and
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Genevieve E. "Genny" Bennett has | 3 |
| been deeply felt by many, especially her daughter, Barbara | 4 |
| "Barb" (Robert) Zeman; her granddaughter, Tracy Zeman; her step | 5 |
| son, Dewey "Bud" Bennett; her five step-granddaughters; her | 6 |
| step-grandson; her three step-great-grandchildren; her | 7 |
| sisters, Maxine Quigley, Violet (Jerome) Cermak, and Gloria | 8 |
| Loitz; her brother, Bernard (Karen) Zigman; and her many nieces | 9 |
| and nephews ; therefore, be it
| 10 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL | 11 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 |
| Genevieve E. "Genny" Bennett, and we offer our sincere | 13 |
| condolences to her friends, family, and all who knew and loved | 14 |
| her; and be it further
| 15 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 |
| presented to the family of Genevieve E. "Genny" Bennett as an | 17 |
| expression of our deepest sympathy.
