| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Lyle D. "Lightening" Smith of Canton, | 4 | | who passed away on July 30, 2023; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lyle Smith was born to Clyde and Marie | 6 | | (Schissler) Smith on November 17, 1937; he served with the | 7 | | United States Army and was stationed in Germany; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Lyle Smith retired from Caterpillar after 35 | 9 | | years of service; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Lyle Smith enjoyed filling his Morton building | 11 | | full of tools, machinery, antiques and anything else he could | 12 | | find at the countless auctions he attended; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Lyle Smith was preceded in death by his parents; | 14 | | his son, Chris Smith; his brother, Dewayne (Carol) Smith; and | 15 | | the mother of his children, Joyce E. Bull; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Lyle Smith is survived by his daughter, Laura | 17 | | Howarter, and his grandchildren, Zach, Tyler, and Christopher; | 18 | | therefore, be it
