1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Nancy Jo
4 Batman of Moweaqua on Wednesday, January 8, 2003; and
5 WHEREAS, Mrs. Batman was born on March 17, 1943 in
6 Lincoln to John and Iva Linxweiler Scott; she married Raymond
7 Batman on November 28, 1964 at First Christian Church in Blue
8 Mound; and
9 WHEREAS, Mrs. Batman worked at one time for the Decatur
10 Herald and Review as a reporter; she returned years later to
11 work as a columnist; her most recent employment was as a
12 manager at Hieronymus Mueller Museum, a columnist for Decatur
13 Magazine, and as a writer of newsletters for organizations,
14 specifically Dovetales for Dove, Inc.; and
15 WHEREAS, Mrs. Batman wrote three books, "Yeah, But How
16 Would She Look Beside the Go-Kart Trophy?", "It's Not Polite
17 to Play Dead at the Supper Table", and "Betty June Felt
18 Mean"; and
19 WHEREAS, Mrs. Batman will be remembered as a humorous,
20 generous, enthusiastic, creative, and fun woman and will be
21 deeply missed by many, especially her husband, Raymond
22 Batman; her son, Jay Batman; her daughters, Shannon Batman
23 and Lindsay Chapman and husband Daniel; her brother, David
24 Scott, and wife Betty; her sister, Jane Scott; her father,
25 John Scott; her mother-in-law, Pauline Batman; her
26 brother-in-law, Jim Batman and wife Jenny; and her several
27 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
29 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
30 of Nancy Jo Batman and offer our sincerest condolences to her
31 family and friends; and be it further

2 presented to the family of Nancy Jo Batman with our deepest
