| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois | 3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Lela M. Duncan of | 4 |
| Carterville on July 26, 2005; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Duncan was born August 24, 1917, in Hurdland, | 6 |
| Missouri, to Fred and Anna (Kayson) Painter; she married | 7 |
| Frederick H. Duncan on October 21, 1951; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, She retired in 1979 as secretary and treasurer | 9 |
| from First Federal Savings and Loan in Herrin after 20 years of | 10 |
| service; she was a member of First Christian Church in Herrin, | 11 |
| served on the planning committee for Shawnee Christian Nursing | 12 |
| Center, belonged to Herrin Senior Citizens, and was a member of | 13 |
| Carterville Business and Professional Women's Club; and
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, She enjoyed working with her hands, making crafts, | 15 |
| crocheting, and painting; and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents, one | 17 |
| sister, Leta Mae Swind, and one foster brother, Fred Hull; and
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Lela Duncan is felt by all who knew | 19 |
| and loved her, especially her husband, Fred; her sister-in-law | 20 |
| and brother-in-law, Virginia and Bill Harlow; her | 21 |
| brothers-in-law, Herbert Duncan, John Duncan and his wife, | 22 |
| Lela, James Duncan and his wife, Doris, and Russell Duncan; her | 23 |
| nephew, Bill Swind and his wife, Ellen; and her nieces, Darlene | 24 |
| Vaughn and Elene and Floyd Mugegge; therefore, be it
| 25 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL | 26 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 27 |
| Lela Duncan and extend our sincerest condolences to her family, | 28 |
| friends, and community; and be it further
