| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Robert E. Peters of Lewistown, who | 4 | | passed away on June 20, 2023; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Peters was born to Roy R. and Effie Evelyn | 6 | | (Pedigo) Peters in Oakford on March 31, 1933; he served in the | 7 | | U.S. Army in Korea from 1952 to 1954; he married Anita Moss in | 8 | | Oakford on May 29, 1955, and she preceded him in death on May | 9 | | 27, 2023; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Robert Peters worked for Stevens John Deere in | 11 | | Petersburg; he also worked for several farmers in Menard and | 12 | | Fulton counties over the years; he worked for Caterpillar for | 13 | | 28 years before retiring in 1992; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Robert Peters was a member of Lewistown United | 15 | | Methodist Church, the American Legion in Lewistown, and | 16 | | several Saddle Clubs; he served as a 4-H leader in Fulton | 17 | | County for many years; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Robert Peters enjoyed gardening and trail riding; | 19 | | and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Robert Peters was preceded in death by his |

| 1 | | parents; his grandson, Shane Brandon Neteler; and his | 2 | | siblings, Roy Elbert Peters and Roberta Simpson; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Robert Peters is survived by his children, | 4 | | Kathryn (Jason) Baker, Robert Dean (Debbie) Peters, Angela | 5 | | Neteler, Carol Jean Sisson, Evelyn (Bill) West, Nancy Fields, | 6 | | and Melissa (Brian) Thompson; 16 grandchildren; 25 | 7 | | great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one | 8 | | great-great-granddaughter; one step-great-great-grandson; his | 9 | | nephew, Roy Lee Peters; and his sister, Sharon Rockwell; | 10 | | therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 13 | | Robert E. Peters and extend our sincere
condolences to his | 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | 15 | | further
