| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Noel Charles Dicks of Arthur, who | 4 | | passed away on June 4, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Noel Dicks was born in Broadlands to Kenneth and | 6 | | Mary Logan Dicks on September 27, 1929; he graduated from the | 7 | | University of Illinois College of Pharmacy and served in the | 8 | | United States Army during the Korean War as a pharmacist at | 9 | | Brooke Army Hospital in San Antonio, Texas; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Noel Dicks married Iris Jeanne Lape in 1957, and | 11 | | they lived briefly in Decatur until he purchased the Grantham | 12 | | Drug Store in Arthur in 1960 and renamed it Dicks Pharmacy; he | 13 | | remained the sole proprietor until his retirement in 1995; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Noel Dicks committed his life to the Masonic | 15 | | Lodge and the Scottish Rite beginning in 1955 at Arthur Lodge | 16 | | No. 825; he received his degrees there and held many offices in | 17 | | the organization, ultimately rising to the office of Grand | 18 | | Master of the Grand Lodge of Illinois in 2005; he was | 19 | | re-elected in 2006; he also held many offices in the Danville | 20 | | Valley Scottish Rite; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Noel Dicks was preceded in death by his parents; |

| 1 | | his brothers, Wallace and Darrell Dicks; and his | 2 | | sister-in-law, Joan Dicks; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Noel Dicks is survived by his wife of 63 years, | 4 | | Iris; his sons, Bruce (Maggie) and Mark; his granddaughters, | 5 | | Emily and Michelle (Wesley); his grandsons, Sam (Maria) and | 6 | | Jack; his sister-in-law, Janece Dicks; his brother-in-law and | 7 | | sister-in-law, Dr. Keith and Dr. Phyllis Lape; and numerous | 8 | | nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Noel Charles Dicks and extend our sincere condolences to his | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 13 | | further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to the family of Noel Dicks as an expression of our | 16 | | deepest sympathy.
