| SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of Michael J. "Mike" Wagner of Greenfield, | 4 |
| who passed away on August 5, 2007; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mike Wagner was born April 17, 1958, in | 6 |
| Jacksonville; he married Cheri Roth in April 1976; he later | 7 |
| married Amanda L. Cochran on Sept. 23, 2000, at Rockbridge | 8 |
| United Methodist Church; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Mike Wagner played football and basketball while | 10 |
| attending Greenfield High School, where he earned all | 11 |
| conference and MVP honors, and in track, where he qualified for | 12 |
| the 880 relay at State; he scored more than 1,000 career points | 13 |
| in basketball and was a running back on the MSM Conference | 14 |
| championship team and the first team to make the State | 15 |
| playoffs; he graduated from Greenfield High School in 1976 and | 16 |
| attended Illinois College; and
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, He continued his love of Greenfield sports by | 18 |
| becoming a member of the Greenfield Athletic Club, where he | 19 |
| served as president; he played on several local men's softball | 20 |
| teams and coached many boys and girls youth league teams, where | 21 |
| he also served as commissioner from 1986 to 1990; he was a | 22 |
| member of the football chain crew and a football statistician; |

| he was a member of the Woodbine Country Club Board of Directors | 2 |
| and served as league secretary for several years; he was the | 3 |
| secretary for the annual Ozark golf trip; he become a | 4 |
| basketball official in 1977, and has held offices in the | 5 |
| Midwestern Officials Association; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, He was a past member of the After Prom Committee | 7 |
| and helped organize several fundraisers; he was a member of | 8 |
| Bowman's Legion; he was a member of the Greenfield Tiger Backer | 9 |
| Board for many years, serving as president; he helped organize | 10 |
| the Tiger Backer Golf Tournament for the past 10 years and | 11 |
| spent countless hours cooking before football games; he served | 12 |
| as vice-president of the Greenfield Football Quarterback Club | 13 |
| and helped organize its golf tournament for the past two years; | 14 |
| he was co-owner with his brother of Wagner Seed and Supply in | 15 |
| Rockbridge; and he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan who sent | 16 |
| many people to Busch stadium on the company's season tickets; | 17 |
| and | 18 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his paternal | 19 |
| grandparents, Frank and Elta Tendick Wagner; maternal | 20 |
| grandparents, Orville E. and Maureen Macnamara Dalton; and a | 21 |
| beloved great-uncle, Harold "Unc" Tendick; and
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Michael Wagner will be deeply felt | 23 |
| by those who knew and loved him, especially his two daughters, |

| Lisa Wagner and Anna Wagner; his son, Todd; his two | 2 |
| stepdaughters, Morgan and Madison Coates; his parents, Warren | 3 |
| "Wag" Wagner (spouse, Barb); and Nancy Dalton (spouse, Cliff) | 4 |
| Dawson; his sister, Deb (spouse, Terry) Settles; his brother, | 5 |
| Douglas Wagner; and his parents-in-law, Leon and Becky Hopper | 6 |
| Cochran; therefore, be it
| 7 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL | 8 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 9 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Michael J. "Mike" | 10 |
| Wagner; and be it further
| 11 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 |
| presented to the family of Michael J. "Mike" Wagner as a symbol | 13 |
| of our sympathy.
