1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of
3 the State of Illinois have been made aware of the retirement
4 of Robert Wunsch as Chief of Police for the Village of
5 Oswego; and
6 WHEREAS, Chief Wunsch has served in the Oswego Police
7 Department since 1974, beginning as the fourth full-time
8 officer employed by the village which now has 37 police
9 officers; and
10 WHEREAS, Chief Wunsch began as a patrol officer, advanced
11 to the rank of Sergeant in 1977, became Captain in 1978, and
12 was appointed Police Chief in 1983; and
13 WHEREAS, Chief Wunsch served as the first president of
14 the Kendall County Association of Chiefs of Police, remaining
15 an active member of that organization; and
16 WHEREAS, Chief Wunsch has been an active member of the
17 Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police and the Illinois
18 Police Association; and
19 WHEREAS, Chief Wunsch is an alumni of the F.B.I. National
20 Academy; and
21 WHEREAS, Chief Wunsch has served five village presidents
22 in Oswego, which has grown from a population of 3,000 to more
23 than 16,000 during Wunsch's tenure; and
24 WHEREAS, Chief Wunsch has remained in the community his
25 entire tenure due to his frequently-expressed love of the
26 Oswego area; and
27 WHEREAS, Chief Wunsch administered the move of the police
28 station from the Village Hall to its current headquarters on
29 Route 34; and

1 WHEREAS, Chief Wunsch has established crime prevention
2 programs including school liaison officers, DARE programs in
3 local schools, Internet computer investigations, Neighborhood
4 Watch, and bicycle patrol; and
5 WHEREAS, Chief Wunsch has been repeatedly recognized by
6 his community for his outstanding leadership; therefore, be
7 it
8 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10 together with his officers, his village board and its
11 employees, his friends, family, colleagues, and community, we
12 salute the accomplishments of Chief Robert Wunsch and wish
13 him a joyful and meaningful retirement that is well-deserved;
14 and be it further
15 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to Chief Robert Wunsch as a token of our
17 appreciation for his service.
