| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Laurence A. Sletten of Colona, who passed | 4 | | away on November 8, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Laurence Sletten was born in Ontario, Wisconsin to | 6 | | Clarence and Paula Larson Sletten on August 22, 1923; he | 7 | | married Hazel Cole in Elroy, Wisconsin on November 19, 1946; he | 8 | | served in the United States Navy during World War II and | 9 | | continued to serve in the Reserve; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Laurence Sletten was a dairy farmer and a truck | 11 | | driver in Wisconsin; he later retired from International | 12 | | Harvester in East Moline after 20 years; he also worked for the | 13 | | mortuary in Colona for more than 35 years; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Laurence Sletten was a founding member of | 15 | | Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Colona; he was a charter | 16 | | member of the Colona Lions Club and a member of Colona American | 17 | | Legion Post 1233 and the 40 & 8 campground in Atkinson; he was | 18 | | a former Green Rock alderman; he loved camping, fishing, and | 19 | | spending time with his family; he was as an avid fan of the | 20 | | Chicago Cubs; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Laurence Sletten was preceded in death by his |

| 1 | | parents; his wife, Hazel; two sisters; and two brothers; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Laurence Sletten is survived by his children, | 3 | | Larry C. (Linda) Sletten, Bruce E. (Lenora) Sletten, and | 4 | | Clarence A. Sletten; seven grandchildren; eight | 5 | | great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Janet Craven, and Marion | 6 | | Sletten; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | Laurence A. Sletten, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 10 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 11 | | further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Laurence Sletten as an expression of | 14 | | our deepest sympathy.
