| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Aubrey L. "Bud" Ruff of Peoria, who | 4 | | passed away on October 21, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Aubrey Ruff was born on November 14, 1926 in | 6 | | Shelbyville; his parents were Earl and Belle Walker Ruff; he | 7 | | married Dorothy Jenee Taylor on September 9, 1950 in Peoria; | 8 | | and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Aubrey Ruff served his country in the United | 10 | | States Navy during World War II; he was instrumental in | 11 | | bringing the Landing Ship, Tank to the Peoria area, allowing | 12 | | area community and schools to benefit from the rich history; | 13 | | and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Aubrey Ruff and his wife were co-owners of Bud | 15 | | Ruff Electric for 30 years; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Aubrey Ruff served his community through numerous | 17 | | projects; he was involved with the design and lighting of many | 18 | | athletic fields in the area, including Woodruff Park, Richwood | 19 | | High School and Illinois Valley Central baseball fields, the | 20 | | Bradley University softball and soccer fields, and the Bradley | 21 | | Wall of Honor at the Civic Center; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Aubrey Ruff was a co-founder of Peoria Youth Boys | 2 | | Basketball and president of the Peoria High School Booster | 3 | | Club; City Building Commission, President of the Illinois | 4 | | Mechanical Contractors Association, EPIC Board member, | 5 | | Northside Planning and Development, NECA, and PACE; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Aubrey Ruff was a member of First English Lutheran | 7 | | Church for 62 years and served as president for multiple terms; | 8 | | and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Aubrey Ruff was honored by Peoria High School with | 10 | | a beautiful plaque and a lifetime athletic pass for over 10 | 11 | | years of dedicated service; he was also the 34th recipient of | 12 | | the Neve Harms Meritorious Service to Sports Award; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Aubrey Ruff is preceded in death by his wife, | 14 | | Dorothy; his parents; and his sister, Jean; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, Aubrey Ruff is survived by his son, Dr. John | 16 | | (Mary) Ruff; his daughters, Gigi (Stu) Kinkade and Jeannine | 17 | | (Steve) McAllister; his grandsons, Jared Ruff, Dr. Jake (Tory) | 18 | | Ruff, Zach McAllister, and Ward Kinkade; his granddaughters, | 19 | | Aubrey (Jared) O'Brien and Alexis Rhoades-Shindley; and his | 20 | | great-grandchildren, Carter Shindley, Chloe Shindley, and | 21 | | Brage O'Brien; therefore, be it
