| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Gilbert E. Breckling of Silvis, who | 4 | | passed away on September 24, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gilbert Breckling was born in Davenport, Iowa to | 6 | | Walter and Marie (Cappaert) Breckling on October 19, 1934; he | 7 | | graduated from United Township High School in 1952; he was | 8 | | stationed in Korea while serving with the United States Army; | 9 | | he married Roberta Smith in East Moline on December 7, 1968; | 10 | | and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Gilbert Breckling was a journeyman electrician, | 12 | | working throughout the Quad Cities, including with the John | 13 | | Deere Foundry; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Gilbert Breckling was a member of Calvary Church | 15 | | and their Healing Team; he was active with the Rock Island | 16 | | County Fair and was always there to help those in need; he was | 17 | | an avid fisherman, had a great sense of humor, and loved his | 18 | | family dearly; he was affectionately known as "Honest Gil"; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Gilbert Breckling was preceded in death by his | 20 | | parents; his children, Christopher Breckling, and Kari | 21 | | Copeland; and his brothers, Robert, Ronald, and Steve; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Gilbert Breckling is survived by his wife, | 2 | | Roberta; his children, Robert Breckling, Scott Breckling, | 3 | | Marty (Laurie) Breckling, Teri (Bill) Kaufman, Shari (Patrick) | 4 | | Gall, and Traci (Rick) Connor; 19 grandchildren; 19 | 5 | | great-grandchildren; and his brother, Philip (Mary) Breckling; | 6 | | therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | Gilbert E. Breckling, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 10 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 11 | | further
