| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Cheryl Paulette Harris, who passed away | 4 | | on February 20, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Cheryl Harris was born on November 23, 1948 to | 6 | | Fannie Mary
Smith and Alphonso Harris; she attended Chicago | 7 | | Vocational High School and later received her
GED; she met Ira | 8 | | Burton and gave him 3
daughters, Terese, Cherri, and Terri; in | 9 | | 1970, she met Darrell
Wells "Tiger", the love of her life, and | 10 | | they had one daughter,
Daphne Wells; although never married, | 11 | | they lived
together happily for 45 years as husband and wife; | 12 | | and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Cheryl Harris had many jobs though out her life, | 14 | | but the most
satisfying one was as a Certified Addiction | 15 | | Dependency Counselor
at the Haymarket House; she worked in the | 16 | | maternal addiction unit
and was passionate about helping women | 17 | | come into recovery and
change their lives; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Cheryl Harris was preceded in death by her | 19 | | parents; her sister, Deborah Lynn
Harris; and her favorite | 20 | | niece, Candice Johnson; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Cheryl Harris is survived by
her soul mate, |

| 1 | | Darrell "Tiger"; her daughters, Terese, Cherri,
Terri (Eric), | 2 | | and Daphne (Roy); her step-daughter, Denna; her brother,
Frank | 3 | | (Bonita) and sisters, Cynthia (Clay), Denise (Eddie), Nancy,
| 4 | | Joella, and Rhonda Burton (honorary sister); her | 5 | | grandchildren, Mia
(Moses), Eboni, Lamar, Alicia, Danielle, | 6 | | and Diamond; her 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, | 7 | | nephews, cousins, and a host of
friends and extended family; | 8 | | therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Cheryl Paulette Harris, and extend our sincere condolences to | 12 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 13 | | further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to the family of Cheryl Harris as an expression of | 16 | | our deepest sympathy.
