| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Harold Karl Johnson of Peoria, who passed | 4 | | away on August 6, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Harold Johnson was born in Moline to Carl and | 6 | | Bessie Nelson Johnson on November 24, 1929; he served in the | 7 | | United States Army and married Barbara Anne Liedtke in | 8 | | Davenport, Iowa on February 20, 1954; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Harold Johnson was employed by John Deere Plow | 10 | | Planter Works for 32 years, retiring in 1984; he served on the | 11 | | Moline City Council for 12 years, where he chaired the Finance | 12 | | Committee and was mayor pro tem; he was instrumental in the | 13 | | Moline RiverFest and Ben Butterworth Parkway development; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Harold Johnson was an elder and treasurer at Holy | 15 | | Cross Lutheran Church in Moline; he was a member of the board | 16 | | of directors of the Tampa Bay Golf and Country Club; he was an | 17 | | avid golfer and sportsman and followed the Cubs, Bears, Bulls, | 18 | | Illini, and Tampa Bay Rays; he loved his kids and grandkids and | 19 | | attended all of their events and graduations; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Harold Johnson was preceded in death by his | 21 | | son-in-law, Joseph Messing, and his siblings, Judy Smith, Lois |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Harold Johnson is survived by his wife, Barbara; | 3 | | his children, Marci Messing, Mark (Karen) Johnson, and Scott | 4 | | (Michelle) Johnson; his grandchildren, Michael (Autumn) | 5 | | Messing, Molly Messing (Ryan Abbott), Sarah Messing, Derek | 6 | | Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Alyssa Johnson, and Andrew Johnson; and | 7 | | his brother and sisters-in-law, Paul and Darlene Johnson, and | 8 | | Marilyn Johnson; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Harold Karl Johnson, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 13 | | further
