| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Donald E. Scott of Dwight, who passed | 4 | | away on April 13, 2023; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Donald Scott was born to Edward and Mary (Root) | 6 | | Scott in Odell on March 3, 1926; he graduated from Saunemin | 7 | | High School in 1944; he married Dorothy Jean Oelschlager at | 8 | | the Dwight United Methodist Church on November 7, 1950, and | 9 | | she preceded him in death on January 10, 2016; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Donald Scott served in the U.S. Army during World | 11 | | War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, retiring after | 12 | | more than 20 years of service; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, After his military service, Donald Scott returned | 14 | | to the area and worked for R.R. Donnelly, retiring after | 15 | | spending 20 years with the company; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Donald Scott was very active in the Boy Scouts, | 17 | | the Lions Club, and the VFW, serving as commander for many | 18 | | years; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Donald Scott loved storytelling and spending time | 20 | | with his family and friends; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Donald Scott was preceded in death by his | 2 | | parents; his brothers, George, Walter, and Charles; his | 3 | | sisters, Laura Fox and Mary Nell Slavik; his daughter, Frances | 4 | | Starlene Rafferty; and his grandchildren, James Scott and | 5 | | Katelyn Joyce; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Donald Scott is survived by his children, Daniel | 7 | | Scott, Russell (Kathleen) Scott, Ronald (Pamela) Scott, and | 8 | | Rita (Patrick) Joyce; his grandchildren, Brian (Whitney) | 9 | | Scott, Kenneth (Mandi Foster) Scott, Patrick (Ashley) | 10 | | Rafferty, Jennifer (Aaron) Wise, and Collin Joyce; his | 11 | | great-grandchildren, Aiden, Kallen, Westen, Zoey, Harlon, | 12 | | Emily, Abigail, Emma, and Olivia; therefore, be it
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 15 | | Donald E. Scott and extend our sincere condolences to his | 16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 17 | | further
