| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Dr. Charles D. Musfeldt, Jr. of Chicago, | 4 | | who passed away on March 14, 2011; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Dr. Chuck", he was born | 6 | | January 12, 1955 in Chicago; he attended Conant High School | 7 | | where he played basketball, ran cross-country, and was in the | 8 | | National Honor Society, graduating in 1973; he then attended | 9 | | Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida where, as a | 10 | | pre-med major, he became a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon | 11 | | Fraternity and served as President of Green Key, a resident | 12 | | assistant in the dorms, and as aid to Dr. Norman P. Crawford | 13 | | for the St. Johns Dinner Club; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, While in college, he met his wife, Linda Stinnett; | 15 | | following his graduation with honors in 1977, he attended | 16 | | Balliol College, Oxford University on a Rotary Fellowship in | 17 | | England, where he earned a Graduate Degree in Human Biology; | 18 | | while at Oxford University, he played basketball and earned his | 19 | | Blue when their team won the 1978 National Basketball | 20 | | Championship; he then returned to the United States where he | 21 | | attended medical school at the University of Florida; after his | 22 | | first year of medical school, he and Linda were joyfully united | 23 | | in marriage on July 28, 1979; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, He graduated from medical school in 1982 and did | 2 | | his residency as a Family Physician at the St. Vincent's Family | 3 | | Practice in Jacksonville, Florida; in 1986, he finished his | 4 | | residency program and practiced as a Family Physician in | 5 | | Jacksonville; while working fulltime as a family doctor he | 6 | | earned his MBA at Jacksonville University; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, In 1989, the Musfeldt family moved to | 8 | | Naperville,where Dr. Chuck worked as a medical health care | 9 | | consultant with Ernst and Young; after a few years, Dr. Chuck | 10 | | opened his own consulting firm helping hospitals, clinics, | 11 | | doctors, and administrators develop more cost effective ways to | 12 | | practice medicine; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, In Chicago, Dr. Chuck started an amazing new | 14 | | adventure, accepting the invitation of a man at church to | 15 | | attend a Bible Study Fellowship class; he served as a | 16 | | Discussion Leader in his BSF Class; he loved gathering each | 17 | | week with over 100 men to talk about their lessons, worship | 18 | | God, and learn about the Bible passage from the Teaching | 19 | | Leader; he later began his involvement in the high school youth | 20 | | programs, working with freshman boys and continuing through | 21 | | their senior year; and | 22 | | WHEREAS, It was during this time that Dr. Chuck was asked |

| 1 | | to accept a new position in San Antonio, Texas, at the | 2 | | Headquarters of BSF as Director of International Operations; in | 3 | | June 2004, the Musfeldts relocated to San Antonio where Dr. | 4 | | Chuck worked with more than 130 BSF classes outside of North | 5 | | America; he and his wife, Linda, traveled to cities around the | 6 | | world to encourage the International BSF classes and to pray | 7 | | with people interested in developing new BSF classes; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Charles | 9 | | and his mother, Ann; and | 10 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Charles D. Musfeldt, Jr. is survived by his | 11 | | cherished helpmate and best friend, Linda; his beautiful | 12 | | daughters, Miranda and Laura (Caleb Walker); his beloved | 13 | | granddaughter and playmate, Dakota; his brother, Gene (Linda) | 14 | | White; and countless friends and family around the world; | 15 | | therefore, be it
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 18 | | his family and friends, the passing of Dr. Charles D. Musfeldt, | 19 | | Jr.; and be it further
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 21 | | presented to the family of Dr. Charles D. Musfeldt, Jr. as a | 22 | | symbol of our sincere sympathy.
