| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of Perry L. Fuller of Winnetka, who passed | 4 |
| away on May 10, 2007; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Fuller served in the Marines during World War | 6 |
| II; he was a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School; | 7 |
| he began his professional career as a financial director of the | 8 |
| Chicago Crime Commission before joining Hinshaw & Culbertson, a | 9 |
| prominent Chicago law firm where he was mentored by founding | 10 |
| partner Joseph Hinshaw and where he became a partner in 1969; | 11 |
| and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Fuller argued cases before the United States | 13 |
| Supreme Court and the Illinois Supreme Court, litigating | 14 |
| everything from personal injury lawsuits to anti-trust cases; | 15 |
| he handled several high-profile cases, including litigation | 16 |
| that followed the 1981 collapse of a hotel skyway in Kansas | 17 |
| City that left 113 dead and nearly 200 injured, and an infamous | 18 |
| Oklahoma case involving an oil lease scheme that included | 19 |
| well-known victims, including Barbra Streisand and comedian | 20 |
| Jack Benny; he also defended the manager of the band Credence | 21 |
| Clearwater Revival in the mysterious disappearance of millions | 22 |
| of dollars owed to the rock group; and

| WHEREAS, Mr. Fuller served as special counsel to various | 2 |
| government agencies that included the Cook County Civil Service | 3 |
| Commission, the Illinois Department of Mental Health, and the | 4 |
| Illinois Law Enforcement Commission; he handled cases for the | 5 |
| City of Chicago, Chicago Police Department, and Chicago Fire | 6 |
| Fighters Union, as well as the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White | 7 |
| Sox; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Fuller held dozens of executive positions with | 9 |
| the American, Illinois, and Chicago Bar Associations and the | 10 |
| American College of Trial Lawyers; he served as president of | 11 |
| the Law Club of Chicago, the Society of Trial Lawyers, and the | 12 |
| Illinois Humane Society; he co-chaired the NAACP Legal Defense | 13 |
| Fund's Chicago Steering Committee; and served as a trustee on | 14 |
| the Federal Defender Program; and
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Fuller turned down an offer to serve as | 16 |
| counsel to the U.S. Congressional Impeachment Committee during | 17 |
| President Richard Nixon's impeachment hearings; he was active | 18 |
| in Winnetka, serving two terms on the Village Board, leading | 19 |
| the Caucus Committee, and sitting on the Winnetka Community | 20 |
| Chest Board; his wife, Alice, passed away in October of 2005; | 21 |
| and | 22 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Perry L. Fuller will be deeply felt | 23 |
| by all those who knew him, especially his daughter, Leslie |

| Fuller; their mutual longtime companion, Penny Fuller; his | 2 |
| cousins, Donald Howorth and Susan Howorth Zbrozek; and his many | 3 |
| nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues; therefore, be it
| 4 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL | 5 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 6 |
| his family, friends, and colleagues, the passing of Perry L. | 7 |
| Fuller; and be it further
| 8 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 9 |
| presented to the family of Perry L. Fuller as a symbol of our | 10 |
| sympathy.
