| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Diane Edith Romnes-Smith, who passed away | 4 | | on August 16, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Diane Romnes-Smith was born in Chicago to Arne F. | 6 | | and Edith E. (Reiners) Romnes on April 6, 1938; she graduated | 7 | | from Evanston Township High School in 1956; she attended Albion | 8 | | College and graduated from Northwestern University in 1983 with | 9 | | a degree in human resources; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Diane Romnes-Smith was employed as a human | 11 | | resource manager with Kraft Foods and Deerbrook Bank; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Diane Romnes-Smith spent time living in Illinois, | 13 | | Arizona, and Wisconsin; she loved spending time with her family | 14 | | and friends; she was an avid dog lover and she enjoyed | 15 | | traveling to the Gulf of Mexico and the Arizona mountains; she | 16 | | taught Sunday school and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs | 17 | | and St. Louis Cardinals; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Diane Romnes-Smith was preceded in death by her | 19 | | parents; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Diane Romnes-Smith is survived by her children, |

| 1 | | Philip (Michelle) Smith, Jeff (Jeanette) Smith, and Katherine | 2 | | "Kadi" Smith-Joyce; her grandchildren, Joshua, Jacquelyn, and | 3 | | Celeste and Christian, Seth, Jared, Barton, and Paul; her | 4 | | cousins, Nancy (Watkins) Davis and Ron Watkins; and numerous | 5 | | other family members; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | Diane Edith Romnes-Smith, and extend our sincere condolences to | 9 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 10 | | further
