1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Henry G.
4 Jackson, Jr. of Murrayville on Tuesday, May 27, 2003; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson was born on January 25, 1933, in
6 Jacksonville to Henry G. Sr. and Margaret Amelia Lansinger
7 Jackson; he married Johanna Banich in 1957 in Chicago; and
8 WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson graduated from Jacksonville High
9 School in 1951; he earned a bachelor's degree from Illinois
10 College and a master's degree in education from Western
11 Illinois University; he later graduated from the FBI Academy
12 in Quantico, Virgina; and
13 WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson valiantly served his country during
14 the Korean War as a member of the Pacific Fleet Marine Force;
15 he was a railroad detective for Illinois Central and
16 Chesapeake and Ohio railroads; he taught school for District
17 117 from 1966 until 1974 and later served five terms as
18 sheriff of Morgan County, retiring in 1994; he farmed in the
19 Nortonville area; and
20 WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson was a member of St. Bartholomew
21 Church in Murrayville, the Illinois Sheriff's Association,
22 the National Sheriff's Association, the International
23 Association of Chiefs of Police, the International Police
24 Association, the Rail Splitter Division of the FBI National
25 Academy Associates, Murrayville American Legion Post 311,
26 Jacksonville VFW Post 1379, Jacksonville AMVETS Post 100, the
27 Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and Ducks Unlimited; and
28 WHEREAS, The passing of Henry G. Jackson, Jr. has been
29 deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Johanna; his sons,
30 John (wife, Pamela) Jackson, Scott Jackson, and Jamie (wife,
31 Angela) Jackson; his nine grandchildren; and his brother,

1 Myron (wife, Christine) Jackson; he was preceded in death by
2 two sons, Thomas Joseph and Kenneth Edward; therefore, be it
3 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
4 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
5 of Henry G. Jackson, Jr. and extend to his friends, family,
6 and all who knew and loved him our deepest sympathy; and be
7 it further
8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to the family of Henry G. Jackson, Jr. as an
10 expression of our sincerest condolences.
