| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Ken M. Christy of Aurora, who passed away | 4 | | on March 26, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ken Christy was born in Chicago to Ken and | 6 | | Carmella (DeGrazia) Christy on September 18, 1944; he graduated | 7 | | from Proviso West High School and attended Triton College, | 8 | | DePaul University, and the University of Illinois; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Ken Christy was employed by the Aurora Post Office | 10 | | as a letter carrier for over 30 years, retiring in 2011; prior | 11 | | to becoming a letter carrier, he worked in retail management | 12 | | for a national grocery store chain; he was inducted into the | 13 | | Illinois Hall of Fame for Letter Carriers in 2012; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ken Christy served as the Aurora Township Clerk, | 15 | | beginning in 2013; he was past President of the National | 16 | | Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Union Local 219 for 25 | 17 | | years, and was the current President of the NALC for the State | 18 | | of Illinois; he was very involved in politics, volunteering, | 19 | | and raising money for many charities; he was awarded the Kane | 20 | | County Democrat Harry S. Truman award in 2012; and | 21 | | WHEREAS, Ken Christy was a member of Our Lady of Good |

| 1 | | Council Catholic Church in Aurora; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Ken Christy was preceded in death by his parents; | 3 | | his sisters, Charmaine Pliska and Margaret Chase; and his | 4 | | brother, Lawrence Christy; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ken Christy is survived by his wife of 52 years, | 6 | | Bonnie; his 3 daughters, Kristin (Dion) Hadley, Kathleen (Ken) | 7 | | Steil, and Karrie (Dave) Campbell; his 5 grandchildren, Sara | 8 | | Steil, Ken Steil III, Michael Squires, Jennifer Steil, and Ally | 9 | | Hadley; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives; | 10 | | therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Ken M. Christy, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 15 | | further
