| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Melvin Leroy Deskin of Lockport, who | 4 | | passed away on March 23, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Melvin Deskin was born on May 21, 1937 in Pekin; | 6 | | his parents were Norlan Edgar Deskin and Mary Ethel Deskin; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Melvin Deskin was a graduate of Pekin High School | 8 | | and Western Illinois University; he also held a master's degree | 9 | | from Indiana State University; and | 10 | | WHEREAS, Melvin Deskin began his career as a teacher in | 11 | | 1959 at Lockport Township High School, where he taught physical | 12 | | education and driver education; when Lockport West (now | 13 | | Romeoville High School) opened in 1963, he moved to the new | 14 | | school, where he worked until his retirement in 1994; he spent | 15 | | the last 15 years in retirement in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, | 16 | | where he fished nearly every day of his retirement; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Melvin Deskin is best remembered for his 45 years | 18 | | as a football coach at Lockport West/Romeoville High School, | 19 | | where he served as both Head Coach and Assistant Coach; he also | 20 | | served as an assistant for the Joliet Chargers, Joliet Junior | 21 | | College, the University of St. Francis, and Joliet Catholic |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Melvin Deskin was preceded in death by his | 3 | | parents; his daughter, Dana Deskin Dolan; and his | 4 | | granddaughter, Molly Rose Dolan; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Melvin Deskin is survived by his wife, Rosalie | 6 | | Deskin; his sons, Darren (Diane) and Brent (Lisa); his sister, | 7 | | Ethel Kline; his son-in-law, Stephen Dolan, Sr.; his | 8 | | grandchildren, Amy Deskin Hop, Melanie Deskin, Derek (Jessica) | 9 | | Deskin, Erin (Steven) Russell, Meghan Dolan, Ginny (Nicholas) | 10 | | Perry, Stephen Dolan, Jr., Delanie Dolan, Tara Deskin, Chase | 11 | | Deskin, and Taylor Deskin; and his great-grandchildren, | 12 | | Juliette Hop, Keith Hop, Allison Foreman, and Haddie Russell; | 13 | | therefore, be it
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | 16 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Melvin Leroy Deskin; | 17 | | and be it further
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 19 | | presented to the family of Melvin Deskin as an expression of | 20 | | our sympathy.
