| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to recognize State Representative | 4 |
| Carolyn Krause for her services and hard work on behalf of the | 5 |
| people of the State of Illinois; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Representative Krause was first elected in 1992 to | 7 |
| serve the people of the 56th District; after the 2001 remap of | 8 |
| the State, she began representing the 66th District, which | 9 |
| includes portions of Arlington Heights, Des Plaines, Elk Grove | 10 |
| Village, Mount Prospect, Rolling Meadows, and Schaumburg; and
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Representative Krause served as the Mayor of Mount | 12 |
| Prospect from 1977 to 1989; she was a member of the Illinois | 13 |
| Criminal Justice Authority from 1985 until 1987 and was | 14 |
| appointed by Governor James Thompson to the Local Government | 15 |
| Finance Study Commission in 1980; and | 16 |
| WHEREAS, She has received numerous awards during her years | 17 |
| of service, including legislator of the year awards from the | 18 |
| Illinois Health Care Association, the Illinois Psychological | 19 |
| Association, the Illinois Home Care Council, the American Heart | 20 |
| Association of Greater Chicago, the Illinois College of | 21 |
| Emergency Physicians, the Illinois Maternal & Child Health | 22 |
| Coalition, the Northwest Municipal Conference, the Girl Scouts - |

| Illinois Crossroads Council, and the Kenneth Young | 2 |
| Association, among many others; she served as co-convenor of | 3 |
| the Conference of Women Legislators from 2002 to 2003; and | 4 |
| WHEREAS, Perhaps her greatest achievement has been the | 5 |
| creation of KidsCare in 1998, as part of the Children's Health | 6 |
| Insurance Program; she is also proud of her work to pass | 7 |
| legislation ensuring unrestricted emergency room care to | 8 |
| patients without a rigorous authorization process from | 9 |
| insurance companies; and | 10 |
| WHEREAS, She has also sponsored legislation improving | 11 |
| quality long-term care options for Illinois seniors, worked on | 12 |
| the Patient's Bill of Rights to ensure access to quality | 13 |
| medical care and the right to privacy, and the development of | 14 |
| legislation to move forward on energy efficiency, conservation | 15 |
| efforts, and local government protections, among many others; | 16 |
| and | 17 |
| WHEREAS, Her recent committee assignments included the | 18 |
| Electric Utility Oversight Committee, where she served as | 19 |
| Minority Spokesperson, the Health Care Availability Access | 20 |
| Committee, the Environment and Energy Committee, the | 21 |
| Telecommunications Committee, and the Mass Transit Committee; | 22 |
| and

| WHEREAS, Representative Krause was born in Milwaukee, | 2 |
| Wisconsin; she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the | 3 |
| University of Wisconsin - Madison and earned her Juris Doctor | 4 |
| with Honors from the Illinois Institute of Technology-Kent | 5 |
| College of Law in 1966; she and her husband, David, were | 6 |
| partners in the law firm of Krause & Krause in Mount Prospect; | 7 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 9 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 10 |
| congratulate Representative Carolyn Krause on her retirement | 11 |
| from the Illinois House of Representatives and wish her the | 12 |
| best in her future endeavors; and be it further
| 13 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 |
| presented to State Representative Carolyn Krause as a symbol of | 15 |
| our respect and esteem.
