| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Reverend Fr. James Eugene Marshall of | 4 | | Silvis, who passed away on March 8, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Fr. Marshall was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to | 6 | | John B. and Lillian (Birdsong) Marshall on December 27, 1929; | 7 | | he graduated from Southeastern Louisiana College in Hammond, | 8 | | Louisiana and the School of Theology at the University of the | 9 | | South in Sewanee, Tennessee; he served in the United States | 10 | | Navy during the Korean War; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Fr. Marshall was ordained Deacon in the Episcopal | 12 | | Church in 1954 and ordained a Priest in the Episcopal Church in | 13 | | 1955; he served Episcopal churches in Louisiana and Missouri | 14 | | and
several congregations in the Diocese of Quincy; he served | 15 | | as President of the Standing Committee during the re-alignment | 16 | | of the Diocese of Quincy from the Episcopal Church to the | 17 | | Southern Cone of the Anglican Communion; he was a faithful | 18 | | member and local convenor of Forward in Faith NA; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Fr. Marshall loved flying and worked on his | 20 | | home-built airplane for 12 years, finally flying it in 1984; he | 21 | | belonged to the Radio Control Club and Moline Sky Raiders; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Fr. Marshall was preceded in death by his four | 2 | | brothers, John, Thomas, William Lee, and Robert Marshall; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Fr. Marshall is survived by his stepdaughter and | 4 | | her husband, Katherine and Rob Hebert, and his nephew, John B. | 5 | | Marshall; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | Reverend Fr. James Eugene Marshall, and extend our sincere | 9 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 10 | | him; and be it further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Fr. Marshall as an expression of our | 13 | | deepest sympathy.
