| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Gerald Wayne Bassett of Savannah, | 4 | | Georgia, who passed away on November 9, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gerald Bassett was born in Wood River on June 11, | 6 | | 1952 to Merle and Norine Bassett; he graduated from Roxana High | 7 | | School in 1970; he attended DePauw University in Greencastle, | 8 | | Indiana and graduated from Southern Illinois University | 9 | | Edwardsville with a liberal arts degree; he received his Juris | 10 | | Doctor from the Washington University School of Law in St. | 11 | | Louis, Missouri in 1988; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Prior to obtaining his legal degree, Gerald | 13 | | Bassett worked in the Madison County Chief County Assessment | 14 | | Office; he began his law practice in Illinois, and then moved | 15 | | to Georgia in 1995, where he maintained an office for many | 16 | | years; he was a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the | 17 | | Illinois State Bar Association; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Gerald Bassett was preceded in death by his | 19 | | grandparents and a son, Jerrad Bassett; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Gerald Bassett is survived by his parents; his 2 | 21 | | daughters, Marina Bassett and Sasha Bassett; his 3 sisters, |

| 1 | | Laura Bassett (Eric Friedman), Lynn Bassett (Tommy House), and | 2 | | Rene (Tracy) Butler; and nieces, nephews, and cousins; | 3 | | therefore, be it
| 4 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 5 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 6 | | Gerald Wayne Bassett, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 7 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 8 | | further
| 9 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 10 | | presented to the family of Gerald Bassett as an expression of | 11 | | our deepest sympathy.
