1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Robert E.
4 Woods of Carlinville on Saturday, May 10, 2003; and
5 WHEREAS, Robert E. Woods was born on November 26, 1926 in
6 Chesterfield, the son of George and Myrtle Bullard Woods; he
7 married Rosemary Noel in 1968 in Carlinville; and
8 WHEREAS, Mr. Woods graduated from Carlinville High School
9 in 1944 and attended a technical school for two years; he was
10 a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant,
11 and a partner and operator of Woods-Palsen TV and Appliance
12 in Carlinville for more than 40 years, retiring in 1989; and
13 WHEREAS, Mr. Woods was a past member of the Carlinville
14 Volunteer Fire Department where he served for 31 years, past
15 exalted ruler of BPOE 1412; and a charter member of
16 Carlinville Country Club; he was a member of American Legion
17 Guy Baird Post 554, John L. Meyer VFW Post 1104, and Moose
18 Lodge 6460; and
19 WHEREAS, The passing of Robert E. Woods has been deeply
20 felt by all who knew him, especially his wife, Rosemary; his
21 daughters, Lenna (husband, Gary) Phillips, Connie (husband,
22 Dennis) Schwartz, and Michele (husband, Michael) Stephenson;
23 his stepdaughters, Vicki Lynn (husband, Rick) Elliott and
24 Cindy Bush; his grandchildren; his stepgrandchildren; and his
25 step-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
26 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
27 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
28 of Robert E. Woods and express our sincere and deepest
29 sympathy to his family and friends; and be it further
30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
31 presented to the family of Robert E. Woods as an expression
