| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Michael H. "Plow" Joyce of South | 4 | | Wilmington, who passed away on March 7, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Michael Joyce was born in South Wilmington to | 6 | | Catherine C. (Finn) and Patrick H. Joyce on July 11, 1927; he | 7 | | attended Gardner High School; he was a veteran of the United | 8 | | States Navy and served from 1944 until 1946; he married Elaine | 9 | | Menozzi at St. Lawrence Church in South Wilmington on September | 10 | | 12, 1948; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Michael Joyce was a longtime farmer; he also | 12 | | worked in construction as a laborer; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Michael Joyce served as a Greenfield Township | 14 | | Trustee, a Precinct Committeeman, the first President of the | 15 | | South Wilmington Fire Board, a Director of Blue Cross Blue | 16 | | Shield, and a Director of the Grundy County Farm Bureau; he was | 17 | | a member of the Laborers Union Local #75, St. Lawrence Catholic | 18 | | Church, and the South Wilmington VFW; he enjoyed reading, | 19 | | spending time with his family, working crosswords, and talking | 20 | | politics; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Michael Joyce was preceded in death by his |

| 1 | | parents; his sisters, Mary, Helen, and Catherine; and his | 2 | | brother, Patrick, in infancy; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Michael Joyce is survived by his wife, Elaine; his | 4 | | daughters, Cathy (Harry) Walton, Mary Jane Waggoner, and Carol | 5 | | Massa; his sons, Richard (Cathy) Joyce and David (Brenda) | 6 | | Joyce; his grandchildren, Colin (Nicole) Kaestner, Dr. Andrea | 7 | | (Robert) Osborne, Olivia Massa, Courtney Joyce, and Evan Massa; | 8 | | his great-grandchildren, Erik and Liam Kaestner; his sister, | 9 | | Rita Farina and Theresa Phipps; and his brother-in-law, John | 10 | | Orth; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Michael H. "Plow" Joyce and extend our sincere condolences to | 14 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 15 | | further
