| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of James Therry, formerly of North | 4 | | Chicago/Waukegan, who passed away on February 1, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, James Therry was born on April 19, 1933; his | 6 | | parents were Robert and Catherine Therry; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, James Therry was a veteran of the Korean War, | 8 | | having served in the United States Army; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, James Therry received his undergraduate degree | 10 | | from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, his | 11 | | master's degree from Fordham University in New York City, and | 12 | | his Ph.D. from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, James Therry was a Professor of American History | 14 | | at Prince George's College in Upper Marlboro, Maryland; after | 15 | | retiring in 1994, he and his wife moved to Strawberry Plains, | 16 | | Tennessee; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, James Therry was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic | 18 | | Church in Knoxville and enjoyed woodworking; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, James Therry was preceded in death by his parents; |

| 1 | | his first wife, Shirley; and his sister, Rita Robinson; and his | 2 | | brother-in-law, John Salata; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, James Therry is survived by his wife, Brenda; his | 4 | | son, James (Marina) Therry; his brother, Robert E. (Roberta) | 5 | | Therry; his sisters, Loretta Salata and Christine (Manny) | 6 | | Gonzales; his godmother, Jean Belski; and his many loving | 7 | | nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | 10 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of James Therry; and be | 11 | | it further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of James Therry as an expression of our | 14 | | sympathy.
