| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Kendall J. "Ken" Smith of Gurnee, who | 4 | | passed away on January 9, 2016 at the age of 82; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Kendall Smith was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to | 6 | | John and Hazel (nee Chromasta) Smith in 1933 and raised in | 7 | | Racine; he graduated from Northwestern University and lived in | 8 | | the Lake County area since 1955; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Kendall Smith spent 40 years working with natural | 10 | | gas companies; he worked for North Shore Gas, Peoples Gas, and | 11 | | the MidCon Corporation, retiring in 1996; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Kendall Smith was a longtime choir member and | 13 | | Sunday School music leader at St. Paul's Lutheran church in | 14 | | Waukegan; in recent years, he was a member of St. Mark's | 15 | | Lutheran Church in Waukegan, where he sang with the choir and | 16 | | participated in other activities; he also worked with PADS and | 17 | | was an election judge in Lake County for 10 years; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Kendall Smith was preceded in death by his | 19 | | parents; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Kendall Smith is survived by his wife, Jan (nee |

| 1 | | Glogovsky); his daughter, Robin (Harry); the children of his | 2 | | first marriage, Jamison (Lora), Jay (Dori), Jeff "Woody", and | 3 | | Jennifer (David) Novich; his 3 grandchildren; and his 3 | 4 | | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 6 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 7 | | Kendall J. "Ken" Smith, and extend our sincere condolences to | 8 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 9 | | further
| 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 | | presented to the family of Kendall Smith as an expression of | 12 | | our deepest sympathy.
