| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Peter J. Manzo of East Moline, who passed | 4 | | away on December 7, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Peter Manzo was born in New York City in 1921; he | 6 | | served in the United States Navy during World War II, receiving | 7 | | numerous decorations, including, the World War II Victory | 8 | | Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific | 9 | | Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the | 10 | | European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one Bronze | 11 | | Star, and the Navy USCG Unit Commendation Ribbon; he married | 12 | | Doris in New York, and he benefitted from the GI Bill, | 13 | | receiving his bachelor's degree in business from Union College | 14 | | in Schenectady, New York; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Peter Manzo retired from the Army Weapons Command | 16 | | at Rock Island Arsenal as Comptroller and Director of Programs | 17 | | in 1979; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Peter Manzo loved the game of baseball, often | 19 | | reminiscing about Joe DiMaggio; he loved to work and was a | 20 | | devoted family man; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Peter Manzo is survived by his wife, Doris; his |

| 1 | | children, Philip Manzo, Leslie Conroy, Cheryl (John) Scipione, | 2 | | and Peter (Virginia) Manzo; his 10 grandchildren; his 13 | 3 | | great-grandchildren; his great-great-granddaughter; and many | 4 | | nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 6 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 7 | | Peter J. Manzo, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 8 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 9 | | further
