| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of David Schweig, who passed away on June | 4 | | 4, 2022 at the age of 86; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, David Schweig was born in the Humboldt Park | 6 | | neighborhood of Chicago on January 15, 1936; he attended | 7 | | Tilton Elementary School, Austin High School, and Wilbur | 8 | | Wright Junior College; he earned his degree in Economics from | 9 | | Denison University in Granville, Ohio; he attended graduate | 10 | | school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison; he later became | 11 | | a longtime Oak Park resident; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, David Schweig was employed by the National Labor | 13 | | Relations Board and Chicago's Schwinn Bicycle Company in its | 14 | | Labor Relations Department; he eventually became an | 15 | | entrepreneur in several ventures, including food service and | 16 | | real estate; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, David Schweig loved captivating conversation, | 18 | | engrossing books, and vintage firearms; he was an optimist | 19 | | with an unwavering spirit who will be remembered for his | 20 | | abundant sense of humor, keen intellect, and affable | 21 | | personality; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, David Schweig was an advocate for civil rights | 2 | | and a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, an apparent | 3 | | contradiction about which he loved to debate others; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, David Schweig is survived by his wife, Cynthia; | 5 | | his daughters, Jessica Schweig, Leslie Bauer, and Melinda | 6 | | Schweig; his stepchildren, Julia Harris-McCline and Chris | 7 | | Harris; his grandchildren, Carmelo Harris, JaMya McCline, and | 8 | | Jamall McCline; and his numerous nieces and nephews; | 9 | | therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | David Schweig and extend our sincere condolences to his | 13 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 14 | | further
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 | | presented to the family of David Schweig as an expression of | 17 | | our deepest sympathy.
