1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of United States
4 Army Specialist Brandon Jacob Rowe of Roscoe on Monday, March
5 31, 2003; and
6 WHEREAS, Specialist Rowe was killed in action in the war
7 in Iraq near the city of Najaf; he was a member of the 101st
8 Airborne Division (Air Assault) of the United States Army
9 based in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and was the first member of
10 the 101st to die in combat; and
11 WHEREAS, Specialist Rowe was born on April 14, 1982 in
12 Rockford, the son of Wendy Borowski and Milton Rowe; he was a
13 2000 graduate of Hononegah High School; he had worked at
14 DiGiovanni's Restaurant and Highlander Supermarket in Roscoe
15 while in school; he attended Rock Valley College before
16 enlisting in the United States Army in 2001; and
17 WHEREAS, Specialist Rowe's ambition was to attend college
18 to study computers after completion of his military service;
19 he was a Chicago Bears and Kentucky Wildcats fan; he enjoyed
20 playing computer games and listening to music, and especially
21 enjoyed spending time with his "buds"; and
22 WHEREAS, The passing of Specialist Brandon Jacob Rowe has
23 been deeply felt by many, including his mother and
24 stepfather, Wendy and Rick Borowski; his father, Milton Rowe;
25 his sister, Leah (Doug Yates) Rowe; his brothers, Brent
26 (Burgundy) Rowe and Kevin (Mandy) Rowe; his maternal
27 grandfather, George Scheidegger; his paternal grandmother,
28 Tennessee (Rush) Sanders; his step-grandparents, Frank and
29 Jean Borowski; his special nephews, Devon Scheidegger and
30 Austin Wheat; his numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and
31 his many special friends, including Nicol Paige; therefore,

1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that together with his
3 family, friends, and this great nation, we mourn the passing
4 of Specialist Brandon Jacob Rowe, United States Army, and we
5 extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and be
6 it further
7 RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Specialist Rowe and
8 his willingness to serve our country, which led to him making
9 the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of Specialist Brandon Jacob Rowe,
12 United States Army, as an expression of our sincere
13 condolences during this time of loss.
