| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Edward A. "Ed" Welvaert of Moline, who | 4 | | passed away on September 25, 2022; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ed Welvaert was born to Edward B. and Pauline | 6 | | (Walters) Welvaert in Moline on January 2, 1929; he married | 7 | | Viola "Vicki" Johnson in Moline on September 1, 1956; he | 8 | | served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received a | 9 | | Purple Heart; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Ed Welvaert worked as a telephone repairman for | 11 | | the Illinois Bell Telephone Company for 38 and a half years | 12 | | until his retirement in January 1991; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Ed Welvaert was a member of the Telephone | 14 | | Pioneers and the Ex-Servicemen's Club; he was an avid Moline | 15 | | Maroons sports fan and cheered for the Chicago Cubs, the | 16 | | Chicago Bears, and the Fighting Illini; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Ed Welvaert was proud of being a participant on | 18 | | an Honor Flight with his son, Jeff, on May 23, 2013; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Ed Welvaert was preceded in death by his | 20 | | siblings, Dorothy Haynie and Bob Welvaert; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Ed Welvaert is survived by his wife of 66 years, | 2 | | Vicki; his children, Jeff (Lynn) Welvaert and Cathy (Tracy) | 3 | | Best; his grandchildren, Tyler (Brianne) Best, Ryan (Britani | 4 | | Holmes) Best, Christopher Best, Jay (Lynnie) Welvaert, Sam | 5 | | Welvaert, and Connor (Sarah) Welvaert; and his | 6 | | great-grandchildren, Jamie, Cooper, Jacob, and Charlie; | 7 | | therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Edward A. "Ed" Welvaert and extend our sincere condolences to | 11 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 12 | | further
