| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Rosemarie Schliesske of Oak Park, who | 4 | | passed away on October 13, 2019 at the age of 81; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Rosemarie Schliesske was born in Wuppertal, | 6 | | Germany to Adele and Max Jung on March 29, 1938; she was the | 7 | | youngest of four daughters and was affectionately known as | 8 | | "Rosi"; she attended grade school in Germany during World War | 9 | | II and trade school after the war; when she was 19, she | 10 | | immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; she married Horst | 11 | | Schliesske; they moved to Chicago before settling in Oak Park, | 12 | | where they raised their three children and her niece Aliza and | 13 | | fostered two children, Lisa and David; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Rosemarie Schliesske worked at many clerical and | 15 | | administrative jobs to help support her family until she became | 16 | | the office manager for Genesis Management in Oak Park; | 17 | | alongside her husband, she later became a small business owner, | 18 | | building a property management company; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Rosemarie Schliesske was committed to her faith | 20 | | and was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church and then Calvary | 21 | | Memorial Church; she later attended Willow Creek Community | 22 | | Church; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Rosemarie Schliesske was known as a selfless and | 2 | | generous person; together with her husband, she opened her home | 3 | | to children who could not live with their own families; she | 4 | | also provided financial support through World Vision to | 5 | | children who were restricted by poverty; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Rosemarie Schliesske had many different hobbies | 7 | | and was an avid crafter; she began breeding Coton de Tulears | 8 | | after her last child left home; she enjoyed attending her | 9 | | weekly Sunday morning church services, receiving visits from | 10 | | her children and grandchildren, and making her annual road trip | 11 | | to Florida with her husband; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Rosemarie Schliesske was preceded in death by her | 13 | | sisters, Lotte Halbach and Marlis Dahiem; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Rosemarie Schliesske is survived by her husband of | 15 | | 54 years, Horst Schliesske; her children, Heidemarie, Andrew, | 16 | | and Judith (David) Schliesske Waters; her grandchildren, | 17 | | Armando, Ryan, Declan, and Grayson; her sister, Sigrid | 18 | | Robinson; her niece, Aliza Hutchinson; and many other nieces | 19 | | and nephews; therefore, be it
