| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Donna Jean Creel (nee, Brown) of | 4 | | Westmont, who passed away on November 23, 2010; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, She was born on February 22, 1942 in Grand Rapids, | 6 | | Michigan to Beatrice Irene and the late Osborn DeYoung Brown; | 7 | | she enjoyed an active and social childhood, excelling in school | 8 | | and hobbies such as cheerleading and skiing; she and her | 9 | | husband, Larry, were married in a Methodist Church in | 10 | | Kalamazoo, Michigan on September 7, 1968; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, She had a way of positively impacting everyone's | 12 | | life she touched, whether as a family member, employee, | 13 | | colleague, or treasured friend; education and reading were | 14 | | ongoing passions in her professional and personal life; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, She was a first, second, third, and fourth grade | 16 | | elementary teacher in Michigan; in Missouri, over a 25-year | 17 | | period, she served the Hazelwood School District in many | 18 | | capacities: as a first grade and reading teacher, instructional | 19 | | specialist, and reading consultant for the entire district; | 20 | | additionally, she enjoyed serving as an Adjunct Instructor for | 21 | | Webster University; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, In Illinois, she displayed her strong leadership | 2 | | skills as both a consultant and book representative for the | 3 | | Scholastic Book Company; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, She was the light of husband Larry's life and she | 5 | | was the cherished mother to Courtney (Creel) Blankenship and | 6 | | Colin Creel and daughter-in-law Krista Creel; the loving sister | 7 | | of G.L. Brown; and dear grandmother or "Nonna" to Isabella and | 8 | | Gibson Blankenship and Cole and Cooper Creel; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 11 | | her family and friends, the passing of Donna Jean Creel; and be | 12 | | it further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Donna Jean Creel as a symbol of our | 15 | | sincere sympathy.
