| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Dale L. Baraks of Coal Valley, who passed | 4 | | away on April 22, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dale Baraks was born in Coal Valley to Lester and | 6 | | Grace (Harsha) Baraks on May 4, 1931; he attended Augustana | 7 | | College, where he played baseball as a shortstop and second | 8 | | baseman; he was scouted for the Chicago Cubs but was drafted | 9 | | while waiting for tryouts; he served in the U.S. Army as part | 10 | | of the finance department during the Korean War; he married | 11 | | Joyce A. Nash at Coal Valley Presbyterian Church on January 20, | 12 | | 1957; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Dale Baraks was hired by the McLaughlin Body | 14 | | Company in 1962, and he eventually became the vice president of | 15 | | finance; in 2000, he ended his full-time career as senior vice | 16 | | president of the Southeast National Bank, which is owned by the | 17 | | McLaughlins; due to his loyalty and work ethic, he was invited | 18 | | back to the company by Ray McLaughlin to work as his personal | 19 | | assistant; he retired in 2015 at the age of 84; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Dale Baraks was deeply committed to his faith; he | 21 | | volunteered and served at First Presbyterian Church, Coal | 22 | | Valley, and with various ministries; he held the "Cafe on Vine" |

| 1 | | ministry, which served the homeless, especially near to his | 2 | | heart; he was instrumental in the development of the Riverbend | 3 | | Foodbank, where he served as director for 30 years; he enjoyed | 4 | | golfing, playing cards, and losing games of Yahtzee to his | 5 | | wife; he loved reading and watching sports, especially the | 6 | | Cubs; his greatest joy was spending time with his family; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Dale Baraks was preceded in death by his wife, | 8 | | Joyce; his parents, Lester and Grace; and his two sisters, | 9 | | Frances (Charles) Olson and Marge (Howard) Mundt; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Dale Baraks is survived by his daughters, Lisa | 11 | | (Randy) Christensen and Sheri (Brian) Peed Fay; his son, Dale | 12 | | (Nicole) Baraks; his adopted daughter, Connie (Kelly) Cooper; | 13 | | his nine grandchildren; his 18 great-grandchildren; and his | 14 | | eight great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 17 | | Dale L. Baraks and extend our sincere condolences to his | 18 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 19 | | further
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 21 | | presented to the family of Dale Baraks as an expression of our | 22 | | deepest sympathy.
