| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate our colleague, | 4 | | Representative Andrew Chesney, on his distinguished service to | 5 | | the people of the State of Illinois; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney has faithfully served the citizens | 7 | | of the 89th District, which includes, Carroll, Jo Daviess, | 8 | | Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago Counties, since December | 9 | | 5, 2018; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney is grateful for the trust placed in | 11 | | him by the people of the 89th District and the citizens of | 12 | | Northwestern Illinois; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney has established a voting record that | 14 | | reflects the conservative values of his district, including | 15 | | supporting Second Amendment rights, the men and women of law | 16 | | enforcement, personal freedom, and the rights of parents to | 17 | | make decisions affecting their children's health, education, | 18 | | and upbringing; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney has been a tireless advocate for the | 20 | | hardworking men and women of Northwest Illinois and has never | 21 | | voted for a tax or fee increase; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney has been a leading voice for holding | 2 | | elected officials accountable and eliminating corruption in | 3 | | state government by sponsoring tough ethics reform | 4 | | legislation; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney's legislation aimed at reducing the | 6 | | market for animals sold through puppy mills was signed into | 7 | | law with the desired outcome of driving the Illinois pet | 8 | | market towards more humane sources like shelters, rescues, and | 9 | | responsible breeders; and | 10 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney, prior to election to the House of | 11 | | Representatives, served as member of the Freeport City | 12 | | Council, where he built a reputation as a strong advocate for | 13 | | more funding for public infrastructure, blight reduction, and | 14 | | law enforcement; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney is a past board member of the | 16 | | Regional Access Mobilization Project (RAMP), which provides | 17 | | support services and advocacy for people with disabilities, | 18 | | and is a former mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney is a proud graduate of Eastland High | 20 | | School; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney graduated cum laude from Arizona | 2 | | State University with a degree in Communication; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney and his wife, Kelly, reside in | 4 | | Freeport; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Chesney was elected to serve as 45th | 6 | | District State Senator on November 8, 2022 and will be | 7 | | inaugurated into his new position on January 11, 2023
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 9 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 10 | | we wish to thank Representative Andrew Chesney for his four | 11 | | years of dedicated service as 89th District State | 12 | | Representative; and be it further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to Rep. Chesney as an expression of our esteem and | 15 | | respect.
