| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Willis | 4 |
| Terry of Chicago, who passed away on October 13, 2007; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Willis Terry was born on April 21, 1961 in | 6 |
| Chicago; his parents were Willie D. and Queen Esther Terry; and
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Willis Terry confessed a hope in Christ at an | 8 |
| early age; he was baptized at Unity Missionary Baptist Church | 9 |
| under the leadership of the Late Reverend E.J. Jones; at the | 10 |
| time of his passing, he was united with the New Bereans | 11 |
| Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Craig | 12 |
| Lee; and
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Willis Terry attended Providence St. Mel High | 14 |
| School and later received his GED; his academic pursuits led | 15 |
| him to Marion Business College, where he pursued a degree in | 16 |
| accounting; and
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, After facing many challenges and obstacles on | 18 |
| September 11, Willis Terry made a life-changing decision to | 19 |
| embrace a lifestyle of recovery, where he developed a fine | 20 |
| reputation as an active member of the recovery community; and

| WHEREAS, Willis Terry met the love of his life and his best | 2 |
| friend, Samantha Brant, on August 18, 1993; the two united in | 3 |
| holy matrimony on October 19, 1996; and
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, Willis Terry was employed as a supervisor at | 5 |
| Med-Star, where his personable demeanor and leadership skills | 6 |
| endeared him to his employees and customers alike; and | 7 |
| WHEREAS, Willis Terry was preceded in death by his parents; | 8 |
| his aunt, Essie Kelly; and his sister, Michelle Terry; and | 9 |
| WHEREAS, Willis Terry is survived by his loving wife of 11 | 10 |
| years, Samantha; his children, Julie Queen Esther Munson, | 11 |
| Sindreatha Terry, Shontelle Tucker, Willis Terry Jr., and | 12 |
| Carter Tucker; his brothers, his twin Willie (Annette), William | 13 |
| (Marion), Rayford, and Charles; his sisters, Farenceer and | 14 |
| Beverly (Tony); his mother-in-law, Deloris Shelton; his | 15 |
| sister-in-law, April Ivery; his brother-in-law, Larry Brant; | 16 |
| his god-brother, Aaron Washington; his 5 grandchildren; and his | 17 |
| many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and | 18 |
| WHEREAS, Willis Terry will be remembered by all who knew | 19 |
| and loved him as a charming and passionate person who never | 20 |
| gave up in the face of adversity; therefore, be it
| 21 |

| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 2 |
| mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Willis | 3 |
| Terry; and be it further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 5 |
| presented to the family of Willis Terry as an expression of our | 6 |
| sympathy.
