| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Gail Lofgren of Berwyn; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Gail Lofgren attended LaVergne and Morton East | 5 | | High School, Morton College, and Rosary College; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Gail Lofgren's first library position was at age | 7 | | 16 as a page at the old 34th Street branch of the Berwyn Public | 8 | | Library; she worked in the Learning Resources Center at Morton | 9 | | College for approximately 9 years and then returned to the | 10 | | Berwyn Public Library as their reference librarian; in 1993, | 11 | | she was promoted to the Berwyn's Library's 6th Director, | 12 | | retiring in 2001; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Gail Lofgren was always someone who was interested | 14 | | in preserving the history of Berwyn, and in October of 1997, | 15 | | she joined the Berwyn Historical Society as a new board member; | 16 | | a year later she became the Society's secretary and then, a | 17 | | year after that, the treasurer; she remained on the board until | 18 | | approximately 2011; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, In addition to volunteering with the Berwyn | 20 | | Historical Society, Gail Lofgren also gave her time to Meals on | 21 | | Wheels, Outreach at Pavilion and Altenheim Nursing Homes, the |

| 1 | | Berwyn Lions Club, the Berwyn Women's Club, the All Berwyn | 2 | | Committee, the Pershing Parent Teachers Association, and | 3 | | served as a council member at Concordia Lutheran Church; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, Gail Lofgren was an avid reader, particularly | 5 | | enjoying mysteries, biographies, and historical fiction; she | 6 | | also enjoyed fishing, antiquing, and traveling to Nauvoo; | 7 | | Hannibal, Missouri; and with her family to their summer cottage | 8 | | in Minocqua, Wisconsin; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Gail Lofgren, and her husband of over 40 years, | 10 | | Tom, had one daughter, Sarah; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Gail Lofgren, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, | 14 | | friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 | | presented to the family of Gail Lofgren as an expression of our | 17 | | deepest sympathy.
