| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of George Teel Jorndt, Ph.D., who passed | 4 | | away on June 27, 2021 at the age of 80; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, George Jorndt was born to Louis and Margaret | 6 | | Jorndt on August 23, 1940; he grew up on the North Side of | 7 | | Chicago; he attended Jamieson Elementary School and Amundsen | 8 | | High School, where he earned athletic letters in football, | 9 | | track, and swimming; he attended Northern Illinois University | 10 | | for a short time before leaving to work as a mechanic at Nickey | 11 | | Chevrolet; he earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of | 12 | | Science degrees from Illinois State University; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, George Jorndt served as a teacher and coach at | 14 | | Maine West High School for three years; he then earned his | 15 | | Ph.D. in Education from the University of Utah; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, George Jorndt was hired at Triton College in | 17 | | 1969, where he spent most of his professional life and worked | 18 | | in the capacities of educator, coach, and director of | 19 | | admissions before serving as president from 1992 until his | 20 | | retirement in 2001; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, George Jorndt's life revolved around his family |

| 1 | | and friends; he was respected and admired both professionally | 2 | | and personally; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, George Jorndt is survived by his wife of 55 | 4 | | years, Mary; his children, Doug, Gretchen, and Bryan; and his | 5 | | brothers, Dan and Tom; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | George Teel Jorndt, Ph.D., and extend our sincere condolences | 9 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 10 | | it further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of George Jorndt as an expression of | 13 | | our deepest sympathy.
