| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Eddie Lee | 4 | | Jackson Sr. of East St. Louis, who passed away on December 18, | 5 | | 2020; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Eddie Jackson was born to Aaron Jackson and Fannie | 7 | | Mae Jackson in Canalou, Missouri on July 14, 1949; he graduated | 8 | | from East St. Louis Senior High School in 1967; he married | 9 | | Pearlie Mae Rich in October of 1969; he attended Southern | 10 | | Illinois University Edwardsville where he earned a bachelor's | 11 | | degree in Education and a master's degree focused on City | 12 | | Planning; he also became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi | 13 | | Fraternity, Inc; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Eddie Jackson started his political career in East | 15 | | St. Louis in the early 1970s and served on the East St. Louis | 16 | | City Council for more than 30 years; after retiring as an | 17 | | educator, he served in the Illinois House of Representatives | 18 | | for 8 years, from 2009 to 2017, representing the 114th | 19 | | District; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Eddie attended Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist | 21 | | Church and was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc for | 22 | | more than 50 years; his accomplishments as an educator, |

| 1 | | community leader, and political leader are too numerous to | 2 | | list; he was one of a kind and will be sorely missed; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Eddie Jackson was preceded in death by his mother; | 4 | | his father; his sister, Bernice Vales; his grandson, Tramell | 5 | | Jackson; and his granddaughter, Andersen Elise Hicks; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Eddie Jackson is survived by his loving wife, | 7 | | Pearlie; his two children, Eddie (Shantell) Jackson Jr. and | 8 | | Emeka (Demarius) Jackson-Hicks; and his host of grandchildren, | 9 | | great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 11 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 12 | | we mourn the passing of
Eddie Lee Jackson Sr. and extend our | 13 | | sincere
condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | 14 | | and loved
him; and be it further
