HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Danny Barlow of Chicago, who passed away on July 3, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Danny Barlow was born to Marlene Barlow and Rapier "Ray" Bond in Chicago on June 13, 1953; he was the firstborn and the older sibling of four brothers, Samuel, Sylvester, Derrick, and Larry, and two sisters, Cheryl and Erica; he committed to his faith at an early age and was baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church; he attended Forestville Upper Grade Center and Dunbar Vocational High School, participating in such activities as singing, tap dancing, wrestling, and JROTC, where he achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel and was a battalion commander, and he played the piano, the bugle, and the trumpet; and

WHEREAS, Danny Barlow married Linda, and they had two children, Danny and William, before the marriage ended and they subsequently became lifelong friends; he married Marie years later, and she brought to the union six children, Tyjuana, Jack, Cyrita, Lamar, Edward, and Lawrence, before they had three children of their own, Vernon, Daniel, and Maria; together, they were the grandparents and great-grandparents of more than 50; and

WHEREAS, Danny Barlow worked as a union carpenter with Carpenters Local 1185, initially joining as a teenager and remaining an active member until his retirement decades later; he was passionate about his job and enjoyed laying tile and working on construction sites, becoming well-known in the flooring industry; during his tenure, he helped hundreds join the union, including his sons, grandsons, and numerous friends; he worked as a flooring consultant for multiple businesses until his passing; and

WHEREAS, Danny Barlow was always the life of the party and the heart of any gathering; he enjoyed betting on horses, gambling on casino boats or in Las Vegas, cooking, and grilling; and

WHEREAS, Danny Barlow will be remembered for his work ethic, his leadership, and his infectious joy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Danny Barlow and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Danny Barlow as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
