| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Warrant Officer Cecil E. Hutson, U.S. | 4 | | Army (Ret.) of Rock Island, who passed away on January 6, 2022; | 5 | | and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Cecil Hutson was born to Joe and Litha (Robinson) | 7 | | Hutson in Kingsport, Tennessee on February 25, 1934; he | 8 | | married Susan G. Hassler in Brown Deer, Wisconsin on June 18, | 9 | | 1960, and she preceded him in death on December 8, 2018; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Cecil Hutson served in the U.S. Army for 45 | 11 | | years, beginning his military service as a medic in the Korean | 12 | | War; he was acknowledged as the foremost nuclear weapons | 13 | | expert the Army has ever known; upon his retirement in April | 14 | | 1996, he was recognized by General Dennis Reimer, Chief of | 15 | | Staff of the U.S. Army, as the last active duty soldier who | 16 | | served in the Korean War; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Cecil Hutson was inducted into the Ordnance Corps | 18 | | Hall of Fame and was the recipient of numerous awards and | 19 | | commendations throughout his career, including the | 20 | | Distinguished Service Medal; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Cecil Hutson was preceded in death by his wife, |

| 1 | | his parents, and two sisters; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Cecil Hutson is survived by his four daughters | 3 | | and sons-in-law, Kathy (Dennis) Carr, Sharie (Sherman) Loney, | 4 | | Laura (Fred) Behan, and Margie Hutson; his grandchildren, | 5 | | Brandon, Andrew, Stacey, Sarah, Mollie, Susie, Ceci, and Bre; | 6 | | and his great-grandchildren, Natalie and Gavin; therefore, be | 7 | | it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Warrant Officer Cecil E. Hutson, U.S. Army (Ret.) and extend | 11 | | our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who | 12 | | knew and loved him; and be it further
