| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Mike D. Stevens of Milan, who passed away | 4 | | on September 13, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mike Stevens was born in Sault Ste. Marie, | 6 | | Michigan to Charles A. and Carol A. (Tuck) Stevens on March 2, | 7 | | 1948; he served in the United States Army, where he completed | 8 | | Ranger and Jungle Operations Courses and a tour of duty in | 9 | | Vietnam; he earned his commission as a Second Lieutenant and | 10 | | completed his military service at the rank of First Lieutenant; | 11 | | he married Susan England in Las Cruces, New Mexico on September | 12 | | 4, 1979; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Mike Stevens worked in sales for most of his | 14 | | civilian life; he sold insurance for many years and also sold | 15 | | cars; he retired in 2007; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Mike Stevens was a member of the Vietnam Veterans | 17 | | of America Quad Cities Chapter 299; he was proud of his | 18 | | military service and spent his life trying to help veterans who | 19 | | had fallen on hard times; he was an advocate for incarcerated | 20 | | veterans transition programs and the Veterans Affairs Stand | 21 | | Down events; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Mike Stevens was preceded in death by his parents | 2 | | and his wife, Susan; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Mike Stevens is survived by his daughter, Eve | 4 | | Stevens; his sons, Nate Summers and David Stevens; his | 5 | | grandchildren, Danielle Kae Stevens, Katelyn Summers, Haley | 6 | | Gruner, Tara Summers, and Orion Fletcher; his siblings, Sandra | 7 | | Bradshaw, Jack Stevens, and Gene Stevens; and many extended | 8 | | family members and friends; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Mike D. Stevens and extend our sincere condolences to his | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 13 | | further
