| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of María Laura Morales of Oak Lawn, who | 4 | | passed away on July 13, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, María Morales was born to Maria Valcarcel and | 6 | | Quintino Matias in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico on July 31, 1953; | 7 | | she moved to Chicago at a young age and grew up in the West | 8 | | Town/Wicker Park community; she graduated from Tuley High | 9 | | School in 1971; she married Norberto Morales in 1973; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, María Morales was known for her infectious | 11 | | energy, passion, boisterous personality, and being the life of | 12 | | the party; she was welcoming and filled her home with warmth | 13 | | and kindness, making others feel like they were part of the | 14 | | family; she spent years as a volunteer at the Family Learning | 15 | | Center; when not at home, she enjoyed camping at Fish Lake | 16 | | Beach; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, María Morales loved her family deeply, making | 18 | | many sacrifices to support them; she also loved her best | 19 | | friend, Pat Colon, immensely; she will be greatly missed; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, María Morales was preceded in death by her | 21 | | parents, Quintino and Maria Matias, and her sister, Clara; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, At the time of her death, María Morales was | 2 | | survived by her husband, Norberto Morales; her daughters, | 3 | | Marisol Morales and Linnette Marie Morales; her grandsons, | 4 | | Diego Morales Arteaga, Sebastian Wilson, and Lucas Wilson; her | 5 | | sisters, Ramonita, Flora, and Elizabeth; her brothers, | 6 | | Gilbert, Samuel, William, Danny, Eli, and John; and a host of | 7 | | nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | María Laura Morales and extend our sincere condolences to her | 11 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 12 | | further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of María Morales as an expression of | 15 | | our deepest sympathy.
