| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of J. Wesley "Wes" Ooms of Bloomington, who | 4 | | passed away on July 2, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Wes Ooms was born in Chicago to Simon and Lena | 6 | | Kros Ooms on November 1, 1929; he earned a Bachelor of Science | 7 | | in Fire Protection-Safety Engineering from the Illinois | 8 | | Institute of Technology in 1951; he married Audrey Rodgers on | 9 | | September 11, 1953; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Wes Ooms retired as the assistant vice president | 11 | | of State Farm Fire & Casualty Co. in 1994; he was the Chartered | 12 | | Professional Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) Society national | 13 | | president from 1993 until 1994; he was chairman of the | 14 | | Emergency Management Institute, FEMA, in 1990; he had been a | 15 | | trustee of the CPCU-Harry J. Loman Foundation since 1987; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Wes Ooms was the president of Home Sweet Home | 17 | | Mission in Bloomington; he was the music director and a member | 18 | | of East White Oak Bible Church; he was also a member of The | 19 | | Gideons International for many years and attended Bible Study | 20 | | Fellowship; he will be remembered for his strong faith, kind | 21 | | demeanor, contagious laugh, and huge smile; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Wes Ooms was preceded in death by his wife, | 2 | | Audrey, and his son, Gordon; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Wes Ooms is survived by his children, Wesley | 4 | | (Norma) Ooms, April Ooms (David) Kinzinger, Roger (Kim) Ooms, | 5 | | and Bradley (Tricia) Ooms; his 12 grandchildren; and his 17 | 6 | | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | J. Wesley "Wes" Ooms and extend our sincere condolences to his | 10 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 11 | | further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Wes Ooms as an expression of our | 14 | | deepest sympathy.
