| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Ronald Lee "Ron" Stickler of Paris, | 4 | | who passed away on September 5, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stickler was born to Ted and Mary (Thiel) | 6 | | Stickler in Paris on May 13, 1941; he married Audrey L. Mathias | 7 | | in Shelby County on January 28, 1962; he earned both his | 8 | | bachelor's degree and his master's degree in Agriculture | 9 | | Education from the University of Illinois; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stickler worked as an agriculture teacher at | 11 | | Danville Area Community College for over 30 years, where he | 12 | | was proud of implementing the Ag Day program; he previously | 13 | | taught agriculture at Bismarck High School and worked as a | 14 | | farm advisor for the Vermilion County Extension Office; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stickler was a member of the First Christian | 16 | | Church of Paris, where he served in many capacities, including | 17 | | as board chairman, deacon, and usher, and in the Disciples Men | 18 | | Fellowship; he was a member of Lions Clubs International, | 19 | | where he was the immediate past president of the Paris Club and | 20 | | was a past I-E district governor; he served on the Vermilion | 21 | | County Fair Board of Directors for over 50 years; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stickler was known for his selfless service | 2 | | and generosity to many great causes; he enjoyed vegetable and | 3 | | flower gardening, tending to his pond, playing euchre, and | 4 | | going on road trips; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stickler was preceded in death by his parents | 6 | | and his sisters, Jean McKee and Patricia Marrs; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Ron Stickler is survived by his wife of 59 years, | 8 | | Audrey L.; his children, Chris (Linda) Stickler, Kent (Kris) | 9 | | Stickler, Michael (Amy) Stickler, and Nicole (Joe) Boose; his | 10 | | grandchildren, Carson (Alivia) Stickler, Molly Stickler, | 11 | | Morgan Stickler, Ashley (Shane) Grime, Erica Stickler, Carly | 12 | | Stickler, Brandon Stickler, Bryson Stickler, Bethany Boose, | 13 | | and Nikayla Boose; his great-grandchildren, Declan Stickler | 14 | | and Eleanor Stickler; his nephews, Greg Marrs, Jim Marrs, and | 15 | | Kenneth McKee; his niece, Becky McKee; his good friends, John | 16 | | Breneman and Mel Woods; and his dog, Millie; therefore, be it
| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 19 | | Ronald Lee "Ron" Stickler and extend our sincere condolences | 20 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 21 | | it further
