| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the Schulze & Burch | 4 | | Biscuit Company on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Schulze & Burch's 100-year history is filled with | 6 | | innovation, historic accomplishments, and wholesome snacks, | 7 | | all powered by excellent teamwork; and | 8 | | WHEREAS, In 1923, Paul Schulze created the Paul Schulze | 9 | | Biscuit Company, and the Burch Biscuit Company was organized | 10 | | as a subsidiary in 1933; the companies were combined, and the | 11 | | name was changed to the Schulze & Burch Biscuit Company in | 12 | | 1939; and | 13 | | WHEREAS, After spending much of World War II doing | 14 | | contract work for the Army, Schulze & Burch returned their | 15 | | focus to high quality consumer products and introduced the | 16 | | Flavor Kist brand of cookies and crackers; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, In 1964, the very first toaster pastries were | 18 | | produced by Schulze & Burch under the brand name Toast'em; | 19 | | these pastries are made with freshly prepared fillings and | 20 | | include a tender, flaky crust; Schulze & Burch is the largest | 21 | | supplier of private label toaster pastries in the world; and |
