| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois General Assembly are | 3 | | saddened to learn of the passing of former Aurora Mayor Thomas | 4 | | J. Weisner, who passed away December 28, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, In a show of his devotion to the belief that we | 6 | | can make the world a better place, Thomas Weisner joined the | 7 | | Peace Corps in 1981 with his wife, Marilyn; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, While serving in the Peace Corps for five years, | 9 | | Thomas Weisner helped create health and nutrition improvement | 10 | | projects for those who needed it most; and | 11 | | WHEREAS, Upon his return to Aurora, Thomas Weisner began a | 12 | | lifetime career of service to the city of Aurora and was | 13 | | elected mayor in 2005, a position in which he served for three | 14 | | terms; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Weisner thoughtfully guided Aurora through | 16 | | the economic troubles brought on by the 2008 recession; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Weisner continued to be an advocate for the | 18 | | disadvantaged by serving on several boards that benefitted the | 19 | | lives of those in need; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Weisner was vital to the success of Aurora | 2 | | and helped to shape a new generation of leaders for the town; | 3 | | and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Thomas Weisner is survived by his wife, Marilyn; | 5 | | his son, Anthony; his grandchildren, Olivia and Zoe; and many | 6 | | beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 8 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 9 | | we mourn the passing of former Aurora Mayor Thomas J. Weisner | 10 | | and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and | 11 | | all who knew and loved him; and be it further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Thomas Weisner in recognition of a | 14 | | life dedicated to serving others.
