| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Roger Lewis Ferguson, who passed away | 4 | | surrounded on June 9, 2023; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was born to Vewen and Laura | 6 | | (Baker) Ferguson in Piper City on April 30, 1931; he lived for | 7 | | several years with his grandparents, Calvin and Lola Belle, | 8 | | and 10 aunts
and uncles; he graduated from Chenoa High School; | 9 | | he married Norma Delores Eisele in Flanagan on September 3, | 10 | | 1950; he served as an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Air Force | 11 | | during the Korean War; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson and Delores moved to Campus to | 13 | | farm and raise dairy cows and hogs after his discharge from the | 14 | | military; he farmed for over 40 years and then began a second | 15 | | career in professional photography; he was a member of the | 16 | | Illinois Photographer Association and won several awards for | 17 | | his portraits; he was recognized by the Burrell Printing | 18 | | Company for photography, and his photo was selected as the | 19 | | cover for a brochure widely distributed throughout the U.S.; | 20 | | and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was elected road commissioner of |

| 1 | | Broughton Township and served for 16 years; he also served as | 2 | | clerk of the Village of Emington for six years; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson married Constance "Connie" Bland | 4 | | in Urbana on October 10, 1992; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was a member of the American | 6 | | Legion; he proudly served as president of the Senior Advisory | 7 | | Board for Champaign County; he was a member of United | 8 | | Congregational Church in Emington and Friendship Lutheran | 9 | | Church of Joy; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was known for his quiet sense of | 11 | | humor and easy smile; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was preceded in death by his | 13 | | parents; his wife, Norma; his brother, Howard Ferguson; his | 14 | | son-in-law, John Buttitta Jr.; and his grandson, Zachary | 15 | | Pound; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson is survived by his wife, Connie; | 17 | | his children, Kathie (James) Pound, Thomas (Tiffany) Ferguson, | 18 | | Shannon (Bob) Graulich, Brian Mulcahy, and Darin (Lisa) | 19 | | Mulcahy; his grandchildren, Andrea Buttitta, Karin (Andrew) | 20 | | Stueland, Timothy (Hope) Buttitta, Kelsey Vansandt, Connor | 21 | | (Becca) Ferguson, Gabrielle Cinotto, Gianna Savarino, Madeline
