| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Joseph K. "Joe" West of Peoria, who | 4 | | passed away on April 21, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Joe West was born in Dwight to Francis J. and | 6 | | Grace E. (Meyer) West on June 18, 1934; he earned his Bachelor | 7 | | of Science in Engineering from Bradley University in Peoria in | 8 | | 1950 and married Bernadette Giehl in Metamora on April 18, | 9 | | 1959; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Joe West was employed for 41 years as a civil | 11 | | engineer with V. Jobst & Sons and then as a founding member of | 12 | | River City Construction; he retired in June of 1999; he was | 13 | | involved with TriCon, serving a term as president and on | 14 | | multiple construction boards and committees; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Joe West was a member of St. Philomena Catholic | 16 | | Church in Peoria, where he was devoted to perpetual adoration | 17 | | for several years and served on multiple committees in the | 18 | | church; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Joe West enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending | 20 | | time with family and friends, playing tennis, his grandsons' | 21 | | athletic and extra-curricular activities, spending Sundays at |

| 1 | | the Wedgwood Swim and Tennis Club, and tending to his garden; | 2 | | and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Joe West was preceded in death by his parents; his | 4 | | brother, Terrance West; and two infant children; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Joe West is survived by his wife, Bernadette; his | 6 | | children, Susan West, Randall (Bobbie) West, and Jennifer | 7 | | (Eric) Bertolet; his grandsons, Randall West, Adam West, Martin | 8 | | West, Matthew Bertolet, and Elijah Bertolet; and his sister, | 9 | | Ann (Dan Rosenthal) West; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Joseph K. "Joe" West and extend our sincere condolences to his | 13 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 14 | | further
