| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Frederick | 4 | | Lee "Fred" Bradshaw of Griggsville, who passed away on March | 5 | | 21, 2019; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw was born in Quincy to Thomas and | 7 | | Lois Sweeting Bradshaw on April 6, 1936; he graduated from | 8 | | Griggsville High School in 1954 and then joined the United | 9 | | States Army, serving for three years; after returning to Pike | 10 | | County, he attended Western Illinois University, where he | 11 | | received a bachelor's degree in agriculture; he married Carole | 12 | | Schulten in Hannibal, Missouri on July 9, 1969; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw was a farmer and an agriculture | 14 | | advocate; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw served on many boards, including the | 16 | | Farm Credit Services of Western Illinois, the Soybean Checkoff | 17 | | Board, the National Biodiesel Board, the Council on Food and | 18 | | Agriculture Research (CFAR), where he was treasurer, the Two | 19 | | Rivers RC&D, where he was a past chairman, the Pike County Farm | 20 | | Bureau, the Griggsville Rural Fire District, where he was | 21 | | treasurer, and the Pike County Board; he was one of the | 22 | | founding members of the Orr Research Center Corporation Board; |

| 1 | | he took the concept of an agriculture research farm in Western | 2 | | Illinois and made it the show place it is today; he spent | 3 | | countless hours promoting, lobbying, fundraising, and | 4 | | negotiating purchases to get the project off the ground; one of | 5 | | his proudest moments was when he helped facilitate the | 6 | | one-of-a-kind agreement between the University of Illinois and | 7 | | John Wood Community College to share resources at the Orr | 8 | | Center; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw received many awards for his work in | 10 | | agriculture, including the Award of Merit for Distinguished | 11 | | Service to Agriculture from the Gamma Sigma Delta Honor Society | 12 | | of Agriculture at the University of Illinois and the Lifetime | 13 | | Achievement Recognition from the College of ACES at the | 14 | | University of Illinois; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw was a member of the Griggsville | 16 | | Masonic Lodge and Shrine, the Griggsville United Methodist | 17 | | Church, and the Griggsville-Perry American Legion; he served as | 18 | | a Precinct Committeeman and as Vice Chairman of the Pike County | 19 | | Republican Party; he enjoyed his political and community | 20 | | activities, but his true joy in life was spending time with his | 21 | | family; he and Carole visited all 50 states and 47 countries on | 22 | | every continent except Antarctica; when he was not traveling, | 23 | | he could be found running the bulldozer on the farm; he spent | 24 | | many hours doing clean up and dirt work; he especially enjoyed |

| 1 | | visiting with his grandchildren and attending their | 2 | | activities; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw was preceded in death by his | 4 | | parents; his in-laws, Charles and Beulah Schulten; and his | 5 | | brothers-in-law, Chuck Schulten and John Adams; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw is survived by his wife, Carole; his | 7 | | sons, Jeff (Erin) Bradshaw, Eric Bradshaw, and Matt (Lori) | 8 | | Bradshaw; his grandchildren, Sami and Lincoln Bradshaw, Jacob | 9 | | and Jane Bradshaw, and Wesley, Cody, and Kyle Bradshaw; his | 10 | | brothers, Philip (Linda) Bradshaw and Harvey (Judy) Bradshaw; | 11 | | his sisters-in-law, Kay Adams and Sue (John) Bier; and his many | 12 | | nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 14 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 15 | | we mourn the passing of Frederick Lee "Fred" Bradshaw and | 16 | | extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all | 17 | | who knew and loved him; and be it further
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 19 | | presented to the family of Fred Bradshaw as an expression of | 20 | | our deepest sympathy.
